Remember that our choices can affect, not only our mental health & well-being, but also that of the children.
Choose wisely.
One of the roles of a parenting coordinator is to help parents implement and follow through with the parenting plan. Parenting coordinators can also help parents learn how to problem solve, and communicate more effectively. When parents are unable to do so, the parenting coordinator may make a final decision based on what is in the best interest of the child(ren) based on the parenting plan. The parenting coordinator will not change decisions, such as primary residence, relocation or make major changes to the parenting time.
The Voice of the Child (VOC) Report provides parents and the courts with an understanding of how children are feeling and what they want with respect to time spent with both parents. The VOC Report will not provide recommendations but rather it will present the views and preferences of the child(ren).
Going through a separation and/or divorce can be an emotionally draining experience. It often times brings up a lot of emotions that are sometimes difficult to manage. The strong emotions can bring us out of our window of tolerance. Having a professional to provide support can help the experience of the separation/divorce feel much more manageable.

Children also experience a lot of emotions related to the change in their family circumstances and too often parents believe they are not impacted by it. Regardless of how you may think your child is managing the family change, giving them an opportunity to speak to a professional may be the best thing you as a parent can offer them during this time.
